Fashion is one of the most important aspects of the of the modern world we live in. Designs and trends have gone through great transformations over the years, changing from decade to decade. This millennium however, things have taken a very odd turn, and we have some very weird fashion around us as a result.
So let’s take a look at 10 weird fashion trends around the world. Be prepared to be flabbergasted.
10. Hitler Chic

Well it seems recently, Hitler has invaded Bangkok, Thailand, though he’s been dead for 70 years. There has been a mania going around where people are going crazy over the dictator, that they are using his pictures in their clothing designs – from socks, to hoodies, to t-shirts. Nobody knows why this is an ongoing trend in Thailand, but they sure went crazy enough that even the McDonald’s mascot clown was replaced by him. I suppose this is Goodwin’s Law finally making its way into the realms of fashion. Regardless, you need to get it together, Thailand.
9. South African Metalheads

Yo metal heads! Good news! In Botswana, Africa, people there are so addicted to metal music, that they have gone to the extent of adopting the metal way of of dressing into their daily life. These people dressed from top to bottom in metal fashion, and they go around spreading the metal gospel to all who will listen. Rock on.
8. Gothic Lolitas

The Gothic Lolita trend originates from Japan. Teens dress up as vampires and witches, bringing the mythical era to sight. For the Lolitas, it’s Halloween all day, everyday.
7. Elf Boots

Loooong… Image: pinterest.com
Pointy, long and very silly-looking – those are not just the words used to describe Ron Jeremy’s private parts, but also the details of the new shoe craze sweeping Mexico. Not sure why they chose this kind of fashion trend but these insanely crazy boots along with the cowboy hats has taken south Mexico by storm.
6. Meggings

No words. Image: telegraph.co.uk
Leggings became famous in the last few among women. But apparently, and quite sadly, it has caught on with men too. Bleh. Who approved this? They call it a substitute for pants, but it’s really not. Your privates need need to breathe men.
5. Eye Jewelry

You know what body part often gets overlooked in the world of fashion? The eyes. And generally for good reason. Sure, you can paint around them or change their color with contact lenses, but how often do you see some actual, serious fashion being done on the eyeball itself? Almost never, because that is a terrible, terrible idea. Well, the Dutch seem to disagree, and some people have gone as far as putting jewelry onto the eye itself. Just why?
4. Eye Tattoos

First jewelry and now this. Some people in America have gone to the great extents to tattooing their eyes with various designs. Can’t people just leave their eyeballs alone?
3. Manba

The very sight of it gives me a headache. Oh Japan, why do you keep appearing on lists with “Weirdest” in the title…? Manba is a fashion trend popular among young Japanese girls who apparently date men with a Minstrel Show fetish.
2. The Facekini

I’ve had enough. Image: sobadsogood.com
A clever (read: terrible) play on the word bikini, the facekini has proven itself a hit among the female beach goers on the East China Sea coast. Though it may look like a Halloween mask you find during a sale at the dollar store, the facekini is today an integral part of typical swimwear in China, as common as a swim cap or swimming goggles.
1. Bagel Heads

WTF? Image: smash.com
Really, Japan? Again?
Look, I know that injecting saline into your forehead to make a sort of donut/bagel shape is only popular among the body mod crowd in your country but still WTF man? Admittedly the bagel forehead is only temporary as the saline eventually gets absorbed into the body, but the fact that more than one person has ever tried this, willingly no less, is still keeping me up at night.
Hopefully all these weird fashion trends will eventually phase out in the near future, but knowing humans, something even weirder will take their place.
